HOBNOB 3: APERTURES
FIONA GEILINGER Fiona Geilinger makes woven pattern-based and print-inspired short videos using the moving body and ideas about reading minds. She uses effects to separate the performers from their backgrounds, then animates the human movement trajectories. These are scaled up for moving fabric-like repeat patterns and scaled down to reveal individual human endeavours.
Mute Swimmer is a moniker of the artist and musician Guy Dale. He writes songs that are perversely self reflexive, absurdly existential and/or sad. His performances increasingly use photography and projections to overstate his point. Occasionally he re-discovers his sense of humour and it finds it’s way into a song. He lives and works in Brighton and writes poor promotional texts in the third person.
Award winning photographic/artist Gina Glover will discuss her photographic practice in relation to two of her latest projects Playgrounds of War, which deal with the monumental and emotional detritus of abandoned military bases in the East Midlands and Eastern Europe. focusing on the physical and spiritual ‘holings’ left behind by war.
