Events in Week 7

A number of courses  will be using the zone in Week 7.  Some of these are planning sessions for end of term presentations and so will not be open to non course members.  The courses below, however, are both open  - so if you are interested in coming along please contact Diane (learncetl at sussex.ac.uk) to check there is still room. Please remember that sessions in the Creativity Zone will usually be filmed.

Games for Learning?

This is the follow-on from last week's session on Embodied Learning for the Interactive Learning Environments course. Students will be looking at (and critiquing) some standard "Educational games", exploring some newer interfaces, and addressing the question "What is the difference between turning learning into a game and playing a game that leads to learning?"

Tuesday  13th: 4pm - 6pm (MSc Students)

Friday 16th: 11am - 1pm (3rd Yr UG students)

The History of Human Computer Interaction (HCI)

This is an interactive session on the key characters and developments in the history of HCI.  Students will be wandering through the Zone and using touch screens to explore old video clips, images and web sites along with some examples of current "stuff" that seems to be making history.  The session will be informal, with an emphasis on talking about what is interesting and unexpected, asking questions, and getting a sense of what is "out there".  The material will be available for the students to download after the session for their own future use.

Wednesday 14th: 10am - 11am  (1st Yr UG Students)
