Scaffolding Automotive Engineering Learning

The project aims to bring together students from the year 3 UG course "Motorsport technology", with students from the "Formula Student" Master's project. The latter is a practical, problem-based learning, project involving students building a racing vehicle for participation in an international competitive event. Students from the UG course will therefore be exposed to practical problems and issues to inform the theoretical underpinning of their course. Students from the Master's course will gain a more in depth understanding of their own problem solving process through the interaction with the UG students and the need to explain and therefore scaffold (Wood, Bruner and Ross, 1976) their understanding.
